Born in 1993. Lives and works in Brussels
You could say that everyone is going through the same thing, looking for their way. And you’d be right. But life pushes some people to start very, very early.
Jules Wittock, a 32-year-old Belgian visual artist, is one of them, and has been doing it ever since he was very young. For him, it’s a question of survival. He’s looking for a way through the jungle that is our world. He uses his pen as a guide. It glides along intermittently, showing him the right way at every turn. This succession of moments saves him, forces him into the present. The pleasure of doing things in the present moment. Only these present moments, when we have the pleasure of being right, save us from a world that has become complex. What attitude can we adopt to avoid falling into fear, if not the Zen attitude?
Jules’ quest is obsessive, his choices are infinite, and his imagination knows no bounds, whether in 2D, 3D, painting or sculpture, or in his current installations… His work is sometimes in acrylic, sometimes in oil paint, on linen canvas, and more recently in bronze and aluminum.
It’s obvious that a statement like this young artist’s is making waves these days. Does multiple choice still exist? Especially today, when the environment, geopolitical conflicts and the global economy are crying out for change.
What is the path that can still link the personal quest to the common quest, if not always being true to one’s path? The demands of Jules’ work are many. In just 3 years, his work has been noticed by numerous galleries, exhibited at the Tamayo Museum, the MAM in Mexico, and recognized by several galleries in different countries.
Welcome to Jules’ path, and be prepared, because when the path is good, the journey is long and wonderful.

Each picture is a labyrinth, with an entrance and an exit. Each labyrinth has a solution, and the path to the solution forms a word. The word hidden in the painting is a secret, but the title of the work serves as a clue. Paintings can contain several words.
