Was born in 1969 in Toulouse, where he still lives and works.
Laurent Minguet is fond of multidisciplinary creation associating artistic approach and design. A fan of acrylic on canvas from an early age, he learns alone and paints only with a brush, perfecting a hyperrealist style inspired by automobile silhouettes. From 1995 onwards, he oriented his work towards urban landscapes and exhibited for the first time in 1998 in Toulouse, with the British sculptor Paul Day.
For several years, he then devoted himself to his work as a designer specializing in urban furniture, and was responsible for more than 150 models in numerous European cities. His furniture can be found in the La Défense district and the OECD gardens in Paris, as well as on the site of the Lisbon World Fair.
However, in 2003, 2005 and 2009, he held three successive painting exhibitions in Tahiti, where he lived for several years. His work is inspired by Polynesian themes that he sometimes combines with his urban vision.
Today, Laurent Minguet has moved away from design to devote himself entirely to painting. His latest series, entitled Wood City, uses cherry or walnut wood as a background, the grain of which offers a dynamic that is reinforced by large monochrome coulures. The superimposed urban landscapes then suggest several prisms of reading.
