Biography

Born in 1979. Lives and works in Ireland.

Originally from Thailand, Nathan Neven grew up drawing and painting everything around him. After studying art and communications, he became a layout artist for magazines, then a graphic designer in advertising. Nurturing the dream of becoming a painter, he moved to Paris, where he took courses to perfect his skills. His art recounts this journey, his life in Europe and his discovery of travel.

For the past ten years, he has pursued a full-time career as an artist. His exhibitions have taken him from Japan to Ireland, where he now lives, via the UK, the USA, France, and South Africa. He expresses himself through urban landscapes, vibrantly coloured interior scenes, and joyful juxtapositions of our daily lives. He masters the expressive language of colour, plays with light, worked textures and original forms with rare spontaneity and emotion. Inspired by everything that touches his soul, he shares his emotions with us in a dynamic, shimmering harmony.

With the Wildlife Invited series, born in reaction to the isolation caused by the pandemic and which he is still completing, Nathan Neven astonishes and amuses. Multiplying mythological evocations and references to art history, his canvases also remind us of the photographs of Karen Knorr or Gloria Friedman.  Architecture plays a decisive role in his work, becoming both the setting and the subject of fictions in which, he introduces animals, incongruous elements that observe the works on display in the archetypal positions of the art lover.

Nathan Neven belongs to this generation of contemporary artists who, while admiring their classical or modern forebears, paint with spontaneity, sincerity, and emotion… quite simply.

Sparkling and captivating, Nathan Neven’s paintings are food for the eyes and touch your soul. Nathan Neven believes in the power of Art to enrich life. These paintings will surely put a smile to your heart. Victor Forbes – FINE ART MAGAZINE (New York)
