Frédérique Tristant’s new series, entitled Allée des Lilas, reads like a pictorial haiku, in which the painting gradually abandons all narrative to focus on the sensory experience. Like a haiku, the work does not tell a story; it captures. It seizes the moment in its most fleeting form: a scent, a chromatic vibration, a breath.
Here, colour becomes fragrance, light becomes music, and the paint itself seems to vibrate like a sound modulation. The warm, tangy tones evoke both blossoming flowers and the sweet taste of berlingots, embedding the painting in a sensory, almost gustatory memory.
